Sending unit has continuity light, battery check light, ON / OFF switch, TONE / RF switch.

Receiving unit has speaker jack-receives tone, directional antenna arrow, headphone jack, ON/OFF volume switch tuning dial.

The cable locator consists of a sending unit and a receiving unit. The sending unit generates a radio frequency signal and sends it through the underground wire.

The receiving unit picks up the radio frequency and traces the underground wire.

Signals can be traced up to 1/2 mile on wires up to four feet deep. It can also be used to find a cut wire by following the tone until it disappears.

The sending unit also generates a TONE which can be send through a wire to the receiving unit's speaker. This allows the identification of one wire in a group of wires the same color.

Sending unit can also be used as a continuity light to check wires and circuits.
